I bought this early as a christmas gift for my husband. I wanted to give it to him now (October)in case there was a problem with it and I had to return it. It was so easy for him to assemble! It is very plain looking, but that's all we really need as it's in the basement. It is a huge space saver. There was a slight problem looking at the diagram - it took a few minutes to figure out where to drill the hole because the angled piece of wood doesn't look just like the one in the drawing. But that was minor. If we need more storage, I will surely buy another. My husband is thrilled with it! I also bought him [@] (folding 24 bottle rack) as something fancy for the bottles he wants right on hand. That one's a surprise and I will review it also.

I bought this to fit in a closet and it worked great. It was easy to assemble and was exactly what I needed. It definitely needs to attached to a wall or something. I do not think it would stand up on its own. I did not want to spend a lot so this was a good choice for me. It is a well made product and looks good.

I mounted my rack sideways in order to fit in a small crawl space under my house. In that I had to first put up plywood siding, then mount angle brackets to hold the included supports, I would not recommend that you not try this unless have some handyman skills. After getting it mounted I added some simple hair "scrunchies" to hold the bottles in more securely.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Solid design but only holds very "standard", and small by many of today's standards, Bordeaux and Burgundy sizes. If your collection is full of classified Bordeaux, this will work great for you. OTOH, for example Jadot grand cru do not fit. Rochioli single vineyards do not fit. Big-shouldered California cabs don't fit well; BV Reserve barely fit. Larger-styled bottles like Hewitt or Chappellet Pritchard Hill do not fit. Many California chards e.g. Kistler, Hanzell, Ramey single vineyards don't fit.
Great storage density as long as you know what you're buying it to store.

I intalled four of these racks in my wine closet. I am able to store many bottles in a small space and I like the heavy black wire design very much. However, I felt a need to replace the sheetrock anchors with toggle bolts and add shims at the bottom to give the unit a slight tilt backward. That done, I am very happy with these racks.
